ABOUT PROVIS

ProVIS stands for Professional VISibility and is a free, online, patient dispensing data management tool brought to you by Fittleworth. ProVIS gathers dispensing data for patients who have selected Fittleworth as their Dispensing Appliance Contractor (DAC), and presents it in a way that makes it easy and straightforward for you to identify and control product use and dispensing costs.

ProVIS reports are currently available to nurses and commissioners across ostomy, continence and ISC products. To gain access to your ProVIS reports simply complete the registration form here and a member of the Fittleworth team will validate your request and provide you with your login details.

From this point forward, you will be able to access your report at any time via the ProVIS login portal.

We understand that stoma, continence and ISC care products are not immune to the need to demonstrate value for the NHS at a time of financial austerity. We also know how busy health providers are caring for patients, so we wanted to create a dispensing data management system that is convenient and delivers the insights needed to help make clinical decisions.

ProVIS forms a part of Driving Value for Money; one of our six Clinical Respect values. Clinical Respect provides healthcare professionals with reassurance that their patients are receiving the best service possible from their Dispensing Appliance Contractor (DAC) while helping achieve best value in prescribing. We can say this because it is a tried and tested formula that has seen us win prestigious awards for service alongside consistently positive feedback from patients and practitioners.

PATIENT DATA AND SECURITY

Patient data are provided for all patients who have used Fittleworth as their Dispensing Appliance Contractor (DAC) over the timeframe being reviewed. All users are able to view products ordered, quantities, costs, over-ordering ratios and potential cost savings, among other things, for all patients under their jurisdiction.

However, the patient identifiers displayed in ProVIS reports depends on the user. For those with clinical responsibilities over patients, i.e. nurses, patient identifiers are displayed alongside Fittleworth’s unique patient reference numbers. For those without clinical responsibilities, i.e. commissioners, only Fittleworth’s unique patient reference numbers are displayed to identify patients, keeping confidential patient data secure.

We take patient confidentiality seriously. Fittleworth aims to ensure the utmost security for patient data and has taken extra precautions to ensure that confidential patient data stays confidential.

Patient data are stored outside of the website and are only accessible via your unique login details. We’ve also taken extra measures to protect data, such as timeouts after a period of inactivity and security reminders when printing any patient specific data. If you have any further questions on any of our security measures, please contact ProVIS@fittleworth.com.

USING PROVIS ONLINE

Nurses are able to access ProVIS Progress reports, which can showcase their efforts to save costs while maintaining excellence in patient care. These could be shared with your line manager, medicines manager or a CCG lead.

We’ve put you at the forefront of your patient dispensing data management tool. So, if you’re directly responsible for a patient’s clinical care and notice any errors in the data, simply email the team at fittleworth.clinicalnurse@nhs.net, quoting the patient reference number and a brief description of the misinformation and the data will be corrected.
The potential cost savings highlighted in ProVIS for ostomy products are based on PrescQIPP guidelines and for continence products are based on the manufacturer’s guidelines. These comparators should be used as a guide only to help identify patients who may be using their products inappropriately, leading to further complications or product stockpiling. We appreciate that the needs of each patient are different and would strongly recommend a clinical review before any products are changed.

Currently, there are no industry body or manufacturers’ guidelines for recommended usage with ISC products. There are therefore no cost/usage comparisons as a benchmark has not been determined. We recommend that these reports are intended for use as a tool to monitor patient usage. Any intervention should be made with due diligence, and be based on additional qualitative interaction between patient and HCP to address concerns such as sudden changes in order quantities.
We advise that, in the absence of industry guidelines, the decision to carry out reviews should be down to professional discretion, based on factors such as patient ordering habits and time since last review. If you notice any sudden changes in a patient’s ordering habits, you might feel it necessary to carry out a review to ensure that products are being used in the correct way to minimise waste and save costs.
